Watching the whole interview it becomes apparent they feel ripped off they missed out on billions in microtransactions with Skyrim and Fallout 4. In his own words millions still play them every month and they have no "touchpoint". Its apparent they view these titles as a tremendous lost opportunity and they are bitter at the players for only paying once. So what are you going to get next? Predatory microtransactions/subscriptions at the lowest production cost. 76 now has $100.00 sub fee.

Sadly, at this point, if Todd told me I wasn't on fire I'd stop drop and roll to keep from burning to death. I'll wait and see on their next few games but FO76 burned what little good will I had left. And supposedly all of Bethesda worked on that blazing dumpster fire.

Todd looks and sounds worn out. Yeah he gets a lot of flack and negative shit thrown at him and mostly deservedly so. But he is just the puppet of the investors and people tend to forget that he probably has no choice but to spout crap on their orders. I don't think it was his idea to put 76 out to the market so soon. In a recent interview he admitted he knew it was broken on release and then said stuff only the bean counters etc would say. I think Starfield and ES6 will also be broken on release and it wouldn't surprise me if he retired after that. If he wrote a no holds barred biography it would make interesting reading.

    Peace

If the PS5/next xbox drops in 2020, then it would be possible, otherwise it would not be. Starfield is obviously aimed at next gen, so until those next gen consles are coming, Starfield won't come.

I myself am mostly waiting for Elder scrolls 6 and Fallout 5. Don't really care about Starfield.

0:58…Todd, let's be real. Unless it's your teams modernising and finally coming into line with actual AAA developers then no one will be surprised and they definitely won't be understanding.

I bet they expected Fallout 76 to last for years, but it bombed hard, I’m forever the optimist, but I do sorry a tad about these high bars that they’re setting for people…

The timing is…right before E3…so it doesn't seem that fishy at all. Usually, if they talk about it in an interview this close to E3, which tons of developers do, it's to help people prep for what they'll be ready to cover, and what they probably shouldn't expect to cover.

Right now, Fallout 76 has been patched to a state that it's a lot of fun to play, so there's less reason to deflect than ever–unless you assume that all of the deflections are courtesy of fans who only have patience with a company when they get what they want.

There was a point when nobody was clamoring for what Bethesda was doing, and they had to trust themselves and hope the audience would show up. In fact, one of the big gambles they took was making Fallout 3 despite the same kind of bellyaching from fans who wanted a game from 1999/2000, and not an FPS.

This is very likely timed to say: Hey, all of you who only want to talk about Elderscrolls and Starfield–we're still working on it, but that's not likely to be our focus at E3, so manage your expectations and your hype speculation for the next few days. If that's a conspiracy, then they forgot to bring their blackhats.

Maybe the tease of tone is the balance of light and dark because you see the planet in the teaser trailer gradually going from dark to light. This could be some sort of subliminal theme to the game, who knows.

I wonder if they're going to be 4 Times Bigger! with 16x The Detail!? At this point, with the level of shame they SHOULD be feeling, they might be better off scrapping any and all development progress and doing a quick license of the Quake 4 Engine … or ANY other engine besides their ancient, creaky old GameBryo "Creation Engine". At this point it's looking more like it'll be the engine of Bethesda's Self Destruction.

Nothing Tod Howard says now, after 76, can be trusted.

"Battle Royale" mode in a post-apocalyptic setting is retarded beyond belief. No wonder '76 is such a dumpster fire.

I bet Bethesda turns it into a live service game like they did with Skyrim SE and Fallout 4. Ever sense 76 they have fallen off the cliff. 🙁
