As other have said, this game is unfairly difficult! No continues. No extra guys. I was like wtf? As a 13 year old, I slammed the Lynx down multiple times! And what do I do as a 42 year old now? Buy the god damned game and a Lynx again. Thinking it was β€œgood memories”.. WTH is wrong with me!!! 😁

This fucker was SOOO difficult. One Life?? No point fighting anyone apart from boss. Loaded it in my Atari Lynx 2 (fist time in 30 years) First level is rock solid, scrape through the boss after about 15 attempts! level 2 – not even full health! same level of health! jump over some instantly shooting cops and fall to my death. Game over! Fuck sake. Why make it so impossible? Just packed it back in the box.

Huh. I thought I never made it past level 2 on this game, but watching this, I do remember playing level 3, and maybe even the first bit of level 4. I guarantee I never quite finished it though.

I remember the cartridge and title screen getting me pumped before realising this title just wasn't that fun to play. Oh god, that first level.

The battery for this crap lasted 1 hr. Great idea, poor execution. Damn you Atari!

I was never a fan of this version of Batman on the Lynx. I think I would have preferred to see a port of 'Batman the Movie.'

Looks like the Genesis version of the 1st Batman game but where you are forced to duck punch rather than kneel kick everyone less you get your ass handed to you instantaneously. Pass..

I never finished it and tried it on both lynx versions back in the day. Gosh, its graphics hold up well today but the fight mechanics were poor.

Wtf. The bombs are relentless in that first stage… It must've been impossible to see where they were coming from like the AVGN said with the Lynx screen

You manage to make this game look enjoyable. I've tried to play it several times and found it unplayable. I thought the level design and enemy attacks were badly coded but this video shows there is some method to the madness…
…though there's loads of cheap shots.

Well, speaking as a Lynx owner from 1989…Batman Returns was okay. Pretty good in spots. But clearly not up to the level of the early Epyx classics or Atari Games arcade translations. You see how the quality dropped hard for original titles, as the Tramiel family were notorious cheapskates, handing projects off to somebody's second cousin just to save a buck. This usually meant videogames that played poorly and looked worse, as programmers with little experience or knowledge were hired. This Batman game isn't the worst, but it surely wasn't very good, and the lack of arcade know-how on the programmer's part shows. This is an issue with most of the Lynx's 2D platformers (Gordo, Fat Bobby, Scrapyard Dog, Pac-Land, Switchblade 2, Viking Child). If only Atari Corp could have bothered to spend a little more money, they would have had far better videogames. Oh, well. Is title was a big hit for Atari, thanks to the name. It sold and made money. The second cousin did a good job.

This game was ungodly difficult. I think I gave up on it. Almost wanted to throw the card at the wall and shout "I'm Batman."

I could never figure out how to get past the explosion in front of Shreks. I never thought to hide in front of the mailbox.
