Nintendo had a monopoly on the video game industry at the time so Sega was trying to come in provide some competition for Nintendo. With competition encourages companies to make better games for their consumers so in the end Sega vs. Nintendo was a good thing. The reason why the Super Nintendo had the Great Sound was because it was a Sony made sound chip

You can't compare Mariokart and Sonic. Mariokart moved slower because it had to process a 3D environment. The games are just two different animals. It was an unfair comparison.

And more useless stuff, spawned by the system, doesn't make it better. They both had light guns, you just KNEW about Nintendos. They both had a gamepad too, you just KNEW about Nintendo's…

Genesis used the same processor (Motarolla 68000) as the original Neo Geo Arcade cabinets… Genesis wins… Just play Eliminate Down, ALL THREE THUNDERFORCE TITLES (as opposed to SNES's one) and the deciding factor? M.U.S.H.A., Genesis exclusive, more graphically demanding than anything on SNES. Genesis was the better system, hands down…

He gloats about super castlevania 3d tunnel when he doesn't point out the massive slow down. It is cool if you stand still and if an enemy appears it causes a slow down.

Loved my SNES. Best friend had a Genesis so I got the best of both worlds. BTW SNES was $200 on release so in 91 that was 380 dollars for inflation.

no it's not just Mk… Nintendo is very child friendly, the music, the games they personally make, it was always a system for younger kids (still a more powerful system yes) but if you was over 14 back in the early 90s then it's sega.

I prefer the FEEL of the sega megadrive controller by FAR.. however 3 buttons?! trying to press 2 at the same time was difficult, so the SNES controller raped it sure, but sega fit in my bigger hands much better

    Sega beat the crap outta
Nintendo…. I'll give Nintendo credit, they have survived but they are way behind the technology of Sega (at the time). I don't know what happened to Sega but they just disappeared.

So the whole argument boils down to Nintendo having more great exclusives than Sega.

Which is true. If you ask me for top 10 most recognizable franchises from each console, I could name Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Yoshi's Island, Kirby's Dream Land, Star Fox, Pokemon, F-Zero, and Earthbound. All I got for Sega is Sonic, that's pretty much it. I have no knowledge of any other Sega franchises without the assistance of the internet.

"I'm gonna make my own Genesis commercial right now"
YT video stops and gets interrupted by a Nintendo Switch ad. No kidding.

This is me right now.. I'm 11 years old and I love retro gaming and it's just so sad to see retro gaming fall apart. All these new kids getting the new Xbox or PlayStation. It's like nobody is thankful what retro games gave us what we have today.

Sega is a fine console with a good library of games, but you just can't beat the Super Nintendo, Super Nintendo is hands down the best gaming console with the best games in history of mankind.
Regular Nintendo is also legendary, but the quality of Super Nintendo games and game developers blows my mind at that time in history, they really went overboard with their games on Super Nintendo for that éra and time in our lives.

ONE thing made me sad tho with the Super Nintendo, they never made a Kid Icarus 2 for the SNES or a Hebereke 2 / Ufouria 2 on the SNES, if someone decide to make those two games for the SNES I would literally shit my pants and call in sick for work to play em!

Why did you ignore Streets of Rage 2?, that would've beaten final fight and the music section, but you chose to completely ignore it.

Honorable mention goes to the TG-16. I had all the 16 bit consoles back when they came out.

You're not alone, James. I had the same response to Sega fanboyism at school, although no video exists. It was from the perspective of an Amiga owner.
