The spotlight is currently shining on the PlayStation 5, so the Xbox Series X has been pushed aside, but you shouldn’t underestimate Microsoft’s powerful next-gen console. Sure, Sony has this whole marketing thing down to a science, but that doesn’t mean the Series X can’t compete with the PS5. While it may be one heck of an uphill battle, the Xbox Series X could very well win Microsoft the console wars, if they play their cards right.

If the rumors are true, then the Xbox Series X might sell for a measly $400. Yes, that’s still a good chunk of change, but not nearly as high as the PS5 price rumors. But just the price of the console alone isn’t going to be enough for gamers to switch to Xbox. Microsoft knows that games make a console, so they’re really pushing optimization with the Xbox Series X. They’ll be doing their best with developers to make games optimized for Xbox Series X, and not the PS5, in the hopes of giving gamers the best experience on Series X, maybe even giving them enough ammo to pull the trigger and switch sides.

There’s more to whether or not the Xbox Series X could compete with the PS5 than that so enjoy the video, let us know if you think Microsoft is doing enough with the Series X to win the console wars in the comments section below and don’t forget to subscribe to TheGamer for more gaming content.

Do you think the specs matter more than price and game selection?

I feel like Xbox and ps should stop being rivals and make a collab console, it would have both of their greatest features, and both players from the different consoles could play together, then they could maybe compete with the pc freaks

I don't think Microsoft will take over PlayStation again and I'd be very surprised if they did. Consoles nowadays are more similar to each other than ever so for the people already invested in PlayStation will continue to stay with them, back in the day they all hard big changes and differences between them that would make decisions either harder or more clearer but nowadays players could pick either console and be happy with them so I don't see an awful lot making the switch

Not a big deal but I wish they would do like a special edition series X like the Scorpio Edition they did for the Xbox One X. Having a nice gradient finish to that tower or something would be something I'd be down for but I'll still get it anyway without

The x box backwards compatibility would be dope if they had any software I cared about. It's unlikely I change from PS to Xbox this coming generation

I’m getting both consoles so I don’t limit myself and miss out on anything. On the other hand Microsoft is closing the gap with acquiring a ton of studios and I love the games that they showed so far. It was always one sided when it came to exclusives and things are completely changing. Sony is staying consistent and cruising along while Microsoft is going balls to the wall! Most powerful console with plenty of exclusives yet to be announced! I’ll be on my Series X much more 🤓
