Digimon Survive Nintendo Switch Review

The Digimon series has been in existence for a couple of decades now and this new entry goes in a very interesting direction. More a visual novel in some respects with battling elements, it has recently released on the Nintendo Switch. Is it worth getting? Well, let’s find out…

The colour changing joycon we use – save $8 with code: SUP2022
Product link: https://bit.ly/30tIm0N – they are very comfortable, have GYRO, Rumble (standard) and a proper D-Pad. Plus they charge normally on the Switch. Great Joycon.

I still have to find somebody to mention the Touch support. It is really rare to find a game that bothers about it on the Switch and at least personally it made the game flow much better.

Bullshit! it never said digital version was the only way to get Guilmon, i bought the physical copy only to find out i can't get Guilmon so much for supporting my local gamestop because i has to return it and i wish i was able to get fill refund but no. I ended up buying the digital version. All because Guilmon is my all time favorite

Lets be honest this game is great but it not dubbed and it feels like a moblie game, everything else is great,, But $60? That's gutsy!

The only thing that's bad of this game at least for switch is the framerate. Man, does the dev so lazy to optimize it for switch, this game is so simple no heavy graphic, yet it can't hold up stable 30fps framerate. Let alone 60fps. Jeez

The game is probably not for me then. If at least the battle segment would have been traditional turnbased RPG or action-style of DW1, I may have been convinced to get it.

Hi everyone. I am not particularly bothered about frames but have heard some pretty bad stuff about the performance on switch. For those of you have played/finished the game: was it really noticeable/ruined the experience for you?

I’m at chapter 3 so far, and while I have no issue with it mainly being a visual novel- I am having an issue with the characters. A few of them are very hard to like. I’m trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, given the circumstances of the story, but if things don’t turn around soon- I’ll probably be giving up on the game.

I HAD a physical copy when I pre-ordered the game, but I was very disappointed when I didn't see this mythical code that supposedly came with the physical copy that would give me Guilmon. I really wanted Guilmon, so I ended up returning the physical copy to get the digital version instead. While I would've liked to have the physical copy, I wanted Guilmon more. They really needed to do a better job including the pre-order bonuses in their physical copies of the game if they don't want people to feel ripped off if they decided to get the physical version.

This game looks wonderful, but why does the framerate seems so off?
Was this reviewed on Switch or PlayStation?

I'm loving this game as a fan of the series, however I'm not sure I agree with visual novels charging AAA prices.

This really sums up my feelings on the game! For awhile now I’ve resisted continuing the game because of the dense exposition, but I think that comes from a history of playing these types of monster-taming games and not having as much story (i.e. Pokémon). I’ll probably pick it back up again soon to get further in, trying to realize it’s visual novel first, srpg second. Great review as per usual! You all are always my fav when it comes to game reviews.

I like it but I hope there is an English Dub so I can do something else while it's in Auto.

I'm a few hours in so far, I really hope it does get darker, digimon needs more adult themes, I mean come on, most of the fan base is older now

I enjoy the game. The free battles help with putting more Digimon fighting in the game. However, it would be nice to have more difficult, like with boss battles or more enemies. Overall love the game.

Glad you review the game for what it is , basing on the genre, instead of that clown ign review who expect a Fire Emblem experience in Digimon survive lolz.
The dev told you multiple times the game is mostly visual novel with a sprinkle of SLPG in it instead of having equal emphasis.
