What are contraband weapons in Warzone 2 DMZ?

In most Call of Duty game modes the gun you use is selected from whatever you have unlocked. You choose your primary weapon, use gunsmith to build it how you want, and then select it in-game. Warzone changed this up a little by having players purchase their loadouts and primary weapon instead.

However, DMZ does neither of those and instead introduces a whole new gameplay mechanic into Call of Dutycontraband weapons. Contraband weapons refer to any gun you have looted or received as a reward while playing DMZ. If you pick up a gun in DMZ and then successfully exfil with it, then that gun will become a contraband weapon.

The main difference between contraband weapons and normal weapons is that contraband weapons can be lost. If you die with a contraband weapon equipped it will be gone forever. It doesn’t matter if you die to another player or during a PvE encounter. Due to this, it’s always risky to take any contraband weapon into Al Mazrah especially if it’s one you like.

Without a doubt, the most powerful contraband weapons in DMZ can be received as drops from other players. This is because insured custom weapons that other players drop can be added to your contraband collection. Also, specific missions and rare loot found in supply drops often give very well-equipped contraband weapons that are worth collecting.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is free to play on both Battle.net and on Steam.
